With the aim of motivating meritorious students to study in core branches, the Special Scholarship is offered to FY B. Tech Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering and Mechanical Engineering merit students who are eligible as per norms.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates who have passed HSC or its equivalent examination (CBSE/ICSE/Other boards) with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the Chemistry or Biotechnology or Biology or Technical Vocational subjects, and have appeared for JEE-Main/ SAT/ MHT-CET/ PERA-CET/ CUET 2023 entrance examination, are eligible to apply.

About Special Scholarship

It is a merit based scholarship in the range of INR. 1 to 2 Lakhs per year and will be applicable for all four years of the admitted B.Tech programme mentioned above. The amount offered as a special scholarship will be on a first-come-first-serve basis and the overall profile of the candidate.

Evaluation Parameters

The following parameters will be considered for selection of candidate for scholarship

1. Academic performance: (Aggregate)
  • 10th standard (75% or 7.5 on a scale of 10 and above)
  • 12th standard or its equivalent (65% or 6.5 on a scale of 10 and above)
2. Performance in any of the Entrance Examinations based on which the admission is sought.
  • JEE MAIN (60 and above percentile)
  • PERA-CET (80 and above percentile)
  • MHT-CET (70 and above percentile)
  • CUET (60 and above percentile)
  • SAT (70 and above percentile)
3. Co-Curricular activities as participant or awardee:
  • International/ National/ State/ District level project competitions
  • Science/ Mathematics/ Language national or international Olympiads.
  • KVPY/ NTSE/ such other scholarships.
4. Extra-Curricular activities as participant or awardee:
  • International /National/State/District level sports competitions
  • International /National/State/District cultural events such as dance, drama, singing, music, arts.
  • Social activities or other such initiatives.
5. Phase & round of admission process
  • Every round in each of the phases will be given weightage in descending order.
6. Programme Preference
  • Candidates opting as preference 1 or 2 for the mentioned B.Tech programmes

Documents Required

Scanned and self attested copies of the marksheets of the appeared examinations and certificates of cocurricular and extracurricular activities.

Scholarship Renewal

The amount offered as scholarship at the time of admission will be continued in the subsequent years provided the candidate maintains a consistent CGPI of 6.5 and above.

Important Instructions

  • This Special scholarship is applicable only for candidates admitted in B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or B.Tech in Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering programmes. However, if a candidate changes the programme of study to any other, the offered scholarship stands canceled.
  • Candidates, who are beneficiary of this Special Scholarship, will not be eligible for any other financial assistance or scholarship from Somaiya Vidyavihar University.
