Merit-Based Scholarship Policy

K J Somaiya Institute of Management (KJSIM), a constituent institute under Somaiya Vidyavihar University founded with the belief that “knowledge alone liberates.” It was built with the strong objective of providing quality education to deserving candidates and enabling them to achieve their full potential in life.

Rationale

The institute currently offers financial aid to economically disadvantaged students who have been admitted following our rigorous selection process. We now plan to offer a limited number of scholarships to candidates who have demonstrated academic excellence with other significant achievements in either sports, arts, community service or any other achievement as evidence of the candidate’s outstanding capability. The Institute’s management expects that such students will be role models for the current and future student community and also help to inspire faculty to be at their best.

5 (100% Tuition fee waiver)

Eligibility

  • Applicant must be a Resident of India and below 30 years of age.
  • Applicants must have scored a minimum of 80% marks in Class 10th and 12th and 70% in Undergraduate (UG) studies.
  • Achievements at the State, National level or international level in Sports, Arts and Community service or other significant achievements
  • >=90 percentile in CAT/ >=90 percentile in XAT / >= 700 in GMAT / >=250 NMAT.

Eligibility for the renewal of Scholarship

  • Based on Academic Performance in the 1st Year at 65% to 70% Marks or equivalent CGPA, attendance above 75%.
  • The recipient of the scholarship should not have any disciplinary action initiated against Them.

Selection Process

The selection procedure comprises of two-stage process with the following steps:

  • Pre-screening criteria
  • Stage 1: screening is done based on the academic merit, achievements in extracurricular or cocurricular activities of the applicant and candidate’s Statement of Purpose of 300 words by KJSIM Selection committee (Head of Admissions, at least 3 Area Chairpersons, Director).
  • Stage 2: In-person interview by a panel consisting of VC, Registrar, Dean of Research, Director and an External Expert. The top 5 students will be selected for the scholarship subject to the condition that they produce valid documents. Offer the scholarship for 2 years with conditions of maintaining academic performance at 65% to 70% or equivalent CGPA and attendance above 75%.

Schedule of Scholarship

  • The eligible candidates will be sent a mail along with the first round of offer letters in the first week of April to apply for the scholarship.
  • Applicant also need to submit required documents and Statement Of Purpose (SOP).
  • The candidate needs to pay 1st instalment to secure the seat and the same will be reimbursed in the last week of April based on the decision of scholarships announced.
  • The Statement of Purpose will be assessed (By Faculty Members) and all other documents will be verified (By Staff).
  • The interviews will be scheduled and conducted in 2nd or 3rd week of April
  • The announcement of scholarships will be done in the last week of April.

Note: If applicant cancels the candidature in the programme after receiving the scholarship will attract a penalty of ₹ 5000. The Institute reserves the rights to reduce, not offer or increase the number of scholarships offered.
