The "Grow Beyond Yourself" scholarship program is sponsored by Evonik India pvt. Ltd. in partnership with Somaiya Vidyavihar University (SVU), is designed to provide financial support to underprivileged yet academically talented female students pursuing Master of Science (M. Sc) degrees. It is specifically focused on easing the financial burden for students who may otherwise struggle to fund their education.

Eligibility

  • Applicants should be Female Students from FY/SY.
  • Student from M. Sc programs in biotechnology, industrial biotechnology, chemical biology and drug design, nutraceuticals, or polymer science at Somaiya Vidyavihar University.
  • Family income must be below INR 8,00,000 per year.
  • Applicants must have scored at least 65% or a CGPA of 6.5 in their most recent examinations.

Selection Process

The selection process will proceed as outlined below.

  • Submission: The Scholarship application is part of the course application on somaiya.edu. Applicants must indicate their interest in the Grow Beyond Yourself Scholarship and submit all mandatory documents.
  • Screening: The committee conducts thorough document checks to verify the applicants' academic records, financial background, and eligibility for the MSc programs, ensuring the authenticity of the candidates.
  • Evaluation: Shortlisted candidates undergo personal interactions with the committee to assess the candidates' potential and alignment with the scholarship's objectives.

Documents Required

All documents are required compulsory.

  • EWS Certificate (If applying under the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) category)
  • Income Proof: Income certificate OR Income Tax Return (ITR) for the latest financial year of both parents. If the mother is not working Nil return is required or provide the bank statement for the last six months.
  • Bank Statements: Last six months' bank statements of all earning family members (parents and elder siblings).
  • Address Proof: (Ration card & Recent electricity bill of residence of last three months)
  • Identity Proof: (Aadhar card copies of all earning members)
  • Educational Documents: Mark sheets from all previous boards. Entrance exam scorecard (if applying for Engineering or MBA).
  • Employment Proof: For salaried individuals: Appointment letter OR salary slip OR offer letter.
  • For self-employed individuals: GST certificate OR business-related legal documents.
  • Death Certificate (parent or guardians, If applicable)
  • Statement of Purpose letter to the Evonic India pvt Ltd. CSR team.
  • Self-Declaration: A signed declaration by the student.

Awards

  • The scholarship covers full tuition fees waiver to all students.
  • The scholarship is renewable for the second year, contingent on the student maintaining satisfactory academic performance.
  • Selected students will also be provided with a 6 months program on Personality Development & grooming as a part of the scholarship program.
