The Financial Aid is available to students at entry-level, i.e. while applying for admission to a programme under any of the SVU institutes. While admission to a programme is based on academics, extra-curricular activities and other criteria as prescribed, Financial Aid is assessed entirely on the basis of the financial standing and need of the student /student’s family.

In its first year of inception, i.e. academic year 2021-22, Financial Aid of over Rs. 4 crore was disbursed, benefiting 125+ students of SVU.

Eligibility

Financial Aid is available for applicants seeking admission into any undergraduate and postgraduate programme offered by SVU. To be eligible for financial aid, applicants need to fulfill any one of the following criteria.

• Family income of less than ₹ 800,000 per annum
• People with Disabilities (PwD)
• Wards of defence personnel disabled or deceased in the line of duty
• Applicants who have represented state and/or country in any recognised sport. (Only for B.Sc. Sports and Exercise Science applicants).

Selection Process

The selection process will follow the below mentioned procedure:

• Submission: Applicants to register on the admissions portal (admissions.somaiya.edu) and submit the Financial Aid related documents along with the Admission Form
• Screening: All applications thus submitted will be reviewed and screened basis the eligibility criteria
• Evaluation:
  1. Applicants found eligible after the screening, will go through an interview round
  2. Scrutiny /verification of documents will be done as per the requirements

Documents Required

All documents are required compulsory.

• S.O.P (Statement of Purpose) on why you deserve the Financial Aid.
• Ration Card
• EWS Certificate issued by a competent authority
• Income certifications issued by a competent authority
• IT Return of earning members of the family
• Aadhar Card Photocopy/ Pan Card Photocopy
• Photocopy of rental contract (if applicable)
• Photocopy of death certificate (if applicable)
• Bank statement of last three months of all earning members of the family
• Employer certificate of the earning member
• Financial Aid Self declaration
• Last three months electricity bill

Awards

• Financial Aid will be awarded to the selected applicants on their tuition fees, the aid will be in between 20% to 80% based on the evaluation process.
• Financial Aid awarded will be applicable for the entire duration of the programme
• Students who demonstrate the need can avail the provision of subsidised lodging and boarding facilities provided by the management
• The decision of the Financial Aid Selection Committee will be final and cannot be challenged under any circumstance
